3 Question Response

- What do you think about people who are inconsiderate…

I find it hard to accept and just watch when people are rude and mean to others. I usually try to help out the person in need or say something in my defense if I’m the victim in the situation. I try not to take it personally when rude comments are made by others in relation to me, but I do make a point of clarifying what they said just to make sure I’m not misunderstanding their intentions. I’ve been in many situations where I’ve been hurt by comments that were actually meant as compliments or offhand statements, and I know from others and experience that misunderstanding between people are common. Sometimes, being rude and sarcastic is just a defense mechanism to look cool or fit in with others, but more often it can become a habit. As people are used to treating others this way, others also become used to accepting the way they are treated. I think to build a successful community both sides need to change.

- If you could give any gift in the world, what would you give and to whom?

When I was a little girl, my Christmas wish for one year was to be able to give a gift to Jesus. I never figured out what I was planning on giving him or what I could that he didn’t have, but I spent a lot of time trying to think of something up. In the end of course, I never actually thought of something to “give” him. And the next day (on Christmas) I was so caught up in presents and cookies that I never thought of it again. It’s surprising how looking back I never re-thought about this little girl passion. Every Christmas I’ve been stuck in stress as to what presents to buy and for whom, and wondering what presents I would receive. When people and pastors at church mentioned “Jesus is the reason for Christmas…” I remember thinking, “Oh this again…” Next year, I hope I can find something to give to Jesus.
