“Live as a lie”
I didn’t open my eyes today 9
To pull myself up, only to fall for love 10
Didn’t think through when I knelt and prayed 9
And asked for a somebody to love 9
Didn’t know what I was getting into C
Sorry but love's just another word for pain. D
If tears can heal hearts that are in two 9
Then maybe I could return to…you, ooh 10
And as you’re begging for forgiveness, 9
I could nod and say, that it’s alright 9
(That’s how you live your life,
That’s how you live as a lie) 9
I close my eyes, try to fall asleep 9
A wet pillow is all that I can feel 10
I pray this Lord my soul to keep 9
Wake up to my life: (won’t you) tell me? what is real 10
If tears can heal hearts that are in two 9
Then maybe I could return to…you, ooh 10
And as you’re begging for forgiveness, 9
I could nod and say, that it’s alright 9
(That’s how you live your life, 6
That’s how you live as a lie) 7
But I refuse. Yes, I refuse 9
I’ll never make my way back to you 9
No matter what I do. 6
I’ll work through pain to live out the truth 9
Cuz tears can’t heal hearts that are in two 9
Believe me, when I say this to you, ooh 10
And as you’re beginning for forgiveness, 9
I won’t nod and say, that it’s alright 9
(Don’t wanna live my life 6
Don’t wanna live as a lie) 7
1. The ballad is about a person who is sad bacause the lover possibly did something wrong. My impressions are that this is a pretty sad poem and the lyrics have a little bit of hate in them. My feelings towards this poem is guilty because I think this is what the author wanted the reader to feel. I think its a pretty good poem.
ReplyDelete2. The rhyme scheme is a little bit weird. It is not definite but there are a few rhyme schemes that can be found. The rhyme scheme is ABCB AABCDE ABAB AABCDE ABCD AABCDE. That is the rhyme scheme of the poem.
3. I think the word begging is good. It emphasizes the point the author is trying to make. Also the word heal is good because the author could have used something else but I think it fits better. I also think the word lie is good because she could have used something else but it also fits the poem.
4. I think the ballad is about a girl or a boy, most likely a girl, who dumped a guy and the guy is trying to get back together by apologizing and begging. The girl is very sad and she is trying to move on and she also doesn't want to get back together with the guy. I THINK thats what the poem is about.
5. The author used a little bit of rhyming and I don't really see anymore. I think the poem is still pretty good without the poetic devices.
